SURAH AN-NABA

The Great News

(Maccie, Surah # 78, Verses 40 )

DISAGREEMENT ABOUT THE MESSAGE OF QURAN

78:1 What are they asking one another about?

78:2 About the great news, (i.e. the Quran)

78:3 Over which they are in disagreement.

78:4 But no! They will come to know.

78:5 Again, no! They will come to know.

BLESSINGS OF ALLAH

78:6 Have We not made the earth a resting place?

78:7 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)?

78:8 And We have created you in pairs 

78:9 And made your sleep [a means for] rest

78:10 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness),

78:11 And made the day for livelihood

78:12 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),

78:13 And placed ˹in them˺ a shining lamp (Sun)

78:14 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water (rain)

78:15 Producing by it (rain) grain and ˹various˺ plants,

78:16 And gardens of thick growth.

JUDGMENT DAY

78:17 Verily, the Day of Judgment is a fixed time,

78:18 ˹it is˺ the Day the Trumpet will be blown, and you will ˹all˺ come forth in crowds.

78:19 The sky will be ˹split˺ open, becoming ˹many˺ gates of heaven

78:20 and the mountains will be blown away, becoming ˹like˺ a mirage (Sarab)

HELL FIRE

78:21 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait (for its prey)

78:22 A home for the rebellious (transgressors)

78:23 In which they will remain for ages [unending].

78:24 There they will not taste any coolness or drink,

78:25 Except boiling water, and  Pus (dirty wound discharges)

78:26 An appropriate recompense.(according to their evil crimes).

78:27 They did not expect such a Judgment

78:28 and totally rejected Our signs.

78:29 However, We have recorded everything in a book.

78:30 ˹So the deniers will be told,˺ “Taste ˹the punishment˺, for all you will get from Us is more torment.”

PARADISE

78:31 Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise);

78:32 They will have gardens and grapevines

78:33 And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age;

78:34 And a full cup (of wine).

78:35 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying;

78:36  A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift 

ON JUDGMENT DAY NO ONE WILL DARE TO SPEAK

78:37 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between, the Most Compassionate. No one will dare speak to Him

78:38 On that Day the Ar-Ruh (Jibreal)and the other angels will stand in rows. None will talk, except those granted permission by the Most Compassionate and whose words are true.

78:39 That will be the Day of the Truth. So let those who want seek refuge from their Lord.

78:40 We have warned you of the approaching torment. On that day, a person will see what his hands have committed. A disbeliever will say, "Would that I had been dust".
