(Madnie, Surah # 36, Verses 83)

36:1 Ya Sin

WARN UNAWARE PEOPLE THROUGH QURAN 

36:2 I swear by the Quran, full of wisdom

36:3 Truly, you (Muhammad) are one of the Messengers,

36:4 On a Straight Path

36:5 (This is) a Revelation sent down by the All­Mighty, the Most Merciful,

36:6 So that you may warn people who are unaware because their fathers were not warned.

STILL THEY WILL NOT BELIEVE

36:7 Indeed the Word (of punishment) has proved true against most of them, so they will not believe.

36:8 Verily! We have put iron collars on their necks up to their chins , so that their heads are forced up.

36:9 We have set-up a barrier in front of and behind them and have made them blind. Thus, they cannot see.

36:10 It is the same whether you warn them or not—they will never believe.

QURAN WARNS PEOPLE WHO FEAR ALLAH

36:11 You can only warn him who follows the Reminder (the Quran), and fears the Most Beneficent without seeing Him. So give them good news of forgiveness and an honorable reward.

36:12 Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have recorded in a clear Book.

THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY

36:13 Give them an example ˹O Prophet˺ of the residents of a town, when the messengers came to them.

36:14 We sent them two Messengers whom they rejected. We supported them by sending a third one who told the people, "We are the Messengers (of Allah) who have been sent to you".

36:15 They (people of the town) said: "You are only human beings like ourselves, and the Most Beneficent has revealed nothing, you are only telling lies."

36:16 The Messengers said: "Our Lord knows that we have been sent as Messengers to you,

36:17 And our duty is only to deliver ˹the message˺ clearly.”

36:18 The people replied, “We definitely see you as a bad omen for us. If you do not desist, we will certainly stone you ˹to death˺ and you will be touched with a painful punishment from us.”

36:19 The messengers said, “Your bad omen lies within yourselves. Are you saying this because you are reminded ˹of the truth˺? In fact, you are a transgressing people.”

A MAN RUSHED AND ADVISED HIS PEOPLE

36:20 Then from the farthest end of the city a man came, rushing. He advised, “O my people! Follow the messengers.

36:21 Follow those who do not ask you for any reward and who are rightly guided.

36:22 "And why should I not worship Him (Allah Alone) Who has created me and to Whom you shall be returned.

36:23 Should I worship other gods besides Him? If the Beneficent Allah was to afflict me with hardship, the intercession of the idols can be of no benefit to me nor could they save me?

36:24 In that case I shall most surely be in clear error:

36:25 Verily! I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me!"

36:26 ˹But they killed him, then˺ he was told ˹by the angels˺, “Enter Paradise!” He said, “If only my people knew.

36:27 Of how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored."

36:28  We did not send any soldiers from the heavens against his people after his death, nor did We need to.

36:29  It was but one Saihah (shout, blast) and lo! They (all) were silent (dead-destroyed).

WE DESTROYED NATIONS WHO DID NOT BELIEVED IN MESSENGERS

36:30 Woe to human beings! Whenever a Messenger came to them, they mocked him.

36:31 Do they not see how many of the generations We have destroyed before them? Because they do not turn to them?

36:32 And surely, all, everyone of them will be brought before Us (for Judgment)

EXAMPLE FROM DEAD LAND

36:33 There is a sign for them in the dead earth: We give it life, producing grain from it for them to eat.

36:34 And We have placed in it gardens of palm trees and grapevines, and caused springs to gush forth in it,

36:35  So that they may eat from its fruit, which they had no hand in making. Will they not then give thanks?

36:36 Glory be to Him, Who has created all the pairs of that which the earth produces, as well as of their own (human) kind (male and female), and of that which they know not.

EXAMPLE FROM DAY AND NIGHT

36:37 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness;

36:38 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

EXAMPLE FROM SUN AND MOON

36:39 How We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it returns like the old dried curved date stalk.

36:40 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night outrun the day. Each is traveling in an orbit of their own.

EXAMPLE FROM NOAH ARK

36:41 Another sign for them is that We carried their ancestors ˹with Noah˺ in the fully loaded Ark,

36:42 And created for them similar things to ride in.

36:43 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved.

36:44 Except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time.

36:45 ˹Still they turn away˺ when it is said to them, “Beware of what is ahead of you ˹in the Hereafter˺ and what is behind you ˹of destroyed nations˺ so you may be shown mercy.”

36:46 Whenever a sign comes to them from their Lord, they turn away from it.

36:47 When they are told to spend for the cause of Allah out of what He has provided for them for their sustenance, the disbelievers say to the believers,"Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error."

DAY OF JUDGMENT

36:48 The unbelievers say, "When will the Day of Judgment come if what you say is at all true?"

36:49 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are disputing.

36:50 Then they will not be able to make a will or return to their families.

36:51 And the Trumpet will be blown (i.e. the second blowing)they will be driven out of their grave into the presence of their Lord.

36:52 They will say: "Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of sleep." (It will be said to them): "This is what the Most Beneficent (Allah) had promised, and the Messengers spoke truth!"

36:53 Only after a single blast of sound, they will all be brought into Our presence.

36:54 So today no soul will be wronged at all, and no one will receive any recompense other than what he deserves for his deeds.

PARADISE

36:55 The dwellers of Paradise on that day will enjoy themselves.

36:56 They and their spouses will recline on couches in the shade therein.

36:57 They will have fruits and whatever they desire.

36:58 "Peace be with you," will be a greeting for them from the Merciful Lord.

ALLAH TOLD CHILDREN OF ADAM NOT TO WORSHIP SHAITAN

36:59 (It will be said): "And O you Al-Mujrimun!Get you apart this Day (from the believers).

36:60 Did I not ordain for you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitan. Verily, he is a plain enemy to you.

36:61 But to worship Me ˹alone˺? This is the Straight Path.

36:62 Shaitan misled a great multitude of you. Did you not have any understanding?

36:63 This is Hell which you were promised!

36:64 Burn therein this Day, for that you used to disbelieve.

36:65 On this Day We will seal their mouths, their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify to what they used to commit.

36:66 Had We willed, We could have easily blinded their eyes, so they would struggle to find their way. How then could they see?

36:67 And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

BACK TO CHILD IN OLD AGE

36:68 And he whom We grant long life, We reverse him in creation (weakness after strength). Will they not then understand?

36:69 And We have not taught him (Muhammad) poetry, nor is it meet for him. This is only a Reminder and a plain Quran.

36:70 by which he may warn those who are living and may let the words of Allah come true against the unbelievers.

ALLAH CREATED CATTLE FOR PEOPLE BENEFIT

36:71 Do they not see that We have created for them of what Our Hands have created, the cattle, so that they are their owners.

36:72 And We have subjected them to them, so some of them they have to ride upon, and some of them they eat.

36:73 From cattle they get milk and other benefits. Will they not then give thanks?

WORSHIPING IDOLS

36:74 And they have taken besides Allah aliha (gods), hoping that they might be helped (by those so called gods).

36:75 They cannot help the pagans, even though they serve the idols as dedicated guards.

36:76 So do not let their words grieve you ˹O Prophet˺. Indeed, We ˹fully˺ know what they conceal and what they reveal.

ALLAH WILL GIVE LIFE TO DEATH!

36:77 Do people not see that We have created them from a sperm-drop, then—behold!—they openly challenge ˹Us˺?

36:78 And they argue with Us—forgetting they were created—saying, “Who will give life to decayed bones?”

36:79 (Muhammad), tell him, "He who gave them life in the first place will bring them back to life again. He has the best knowledge of all creatures.

36:80 He has created fire for you out of the green tree from which you can ignite other fires.

36:81 Is the One who has created the heavens and the earth not able to create another creature like the human being? He certainly has the power to do so. He is the Supreme Creator and is All-knowing.

36:82 Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!" and it is!

36:83 So glory be to the One in Whose Hands is the authority over all things, and to Whom ˹alone˺ you will ˹all˺ be returned.
