SURAH MARYAM
Maryam
(Maccie, Surah # 19, Verses 98 )
19:1 Kaf HaYa'Ain Sad.
PROPHET ZAKARIA DUA & GLAD TIDING OF HIS SON YAHYA
19:2 (This is) a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zakariya
19:3 When he cried out to his Lord privately
“My Lord! Surely my bones have become brittle, and gray hair has spread across my head, but I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You, my Lord!
19:5 And I am concerned about ˹the faith of˺ my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So grant me, by Your grace, an heir
19:6 Who will inherit ˹prophethood˺ from me and the family of Yaqub, and make him, my Lord, pleasing ˹to You˺!”
19:7 "O Zakariya! Verily, We give you the glad tidings of a son, His name will be Yahya. We have given that name to none before (him)."
19:8 He wondered, “My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren, and I have become extremely old?”
19:9 He said: "So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!"
19:10 Zakariya said, “My Lord! Grant me a sign.” He responded, “Your sign is that you will not ˹be able to˺ speak to people for three nights, despite being healthy.”
19:11 Then he came out to his people from Al-Mihrab (praying place) he told them by signs to glorify Allah's Praises in the morning and in the afternoon.
PROPHET YAHYA
19:12 ˹It was later said,˺ “O Yahya! Hold firmly to the Scriptures( the Taurat)” And We granted him wisdom while ˹he was still˺ a child
19:13 We gave him compassion and purity. He was a pious human being,
19:14 and kind to his parents. He was neither arrogant nor disobedient.
19:15 And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive.
MARYAM
19:16 And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.
19:17 And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel (Jabreel), and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.
19:18 She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah."
19:19 He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure son."
19:20 She said: "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?"
19:21 He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.' "
19:22 So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place
19:23 And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and had been forgotten and out of sight!"
19:24 But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.
19:25 And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
19:26 "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: 'Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day.'"
19:27 Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a horrible thing.
19:28 O sister of Harun! Your father was not an indecent man, nor was your mother unchaste.”
19:29 Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"
PROPHET ISA
19:30 [Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.
19:31 He has blessed me no matter where I may be, commanded me to establish Salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live."
19:32 And dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me insolent, unblessed
19:33 And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."
19:34 That is Jesus, son of Mary. ˹And this is˺ a word of truth, about which they dispute
19:35 It is not for Allah to take a son! Glory be to Him. When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, “Be!” And it is!
19:36˹Jesus also declared,˺ “Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him ˹alone˺. This is the Straight Path.”
CHRISTIANS
19:37 Yet their ˹various˺ groups have differed among themselves ˹about him˺, so woe to the disbelievers when they face a tremendous Day!
19:38 How clearly will they see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the Zalimun today are in plain error.
19:39 And warn them (O Muhammad SAW) of the Day of grief and regrets, when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.
19:40 Verily! We will inherit the earth and whatsoever is on it. And to Us they will ˹all˺ be returned.
PROPHET IBRAHIM & HIS FATHER AZAR
19:41 And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
19:42[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?
19:43 O dear father! I have certainly received some knowledge which you have not received, so follow me and I will guide you to the Straight Path.
19:44 O dear father! Do not worship Shaitan. Surely Shaitan is ever rebellious against the Most Beneficent.
19:45 O dear father! I truly fear that you will be touched by a torment from the Most Beneficent, and become Shaitan’s companion ˹in Hell Fire.”
19:46 He (father) threatened, “How dare you reject my idols, O Abraham! If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you ˹to death˺. So be gone from me for a long time!”
19:47 Abraham responded, “Peace be upon you! I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness. He has truly been Most Gracious to me.
19:48 As I distance myself from ˹all of˺ you and from whatever you invoke besides Allah, I will ˹continue to˺ call upon my Lord ˹alone˺, trusting that I will never be disappointed in invoking my Lord.”
19:49 So when he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We gave him Ishaque and Ya'qub, and each one of them We made a Prophet.
19:50 We showered them with Our mercy, and blessed them with honorable mention.
PROPHETS
19:51 And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Musa. He was truly a chosen man, and was a messenger and a prophet.
19:52 And We called him from the right side of the Mount, and made him draw near to Us for a talk with him [Musa].
19:53 And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Harun as a prophet.
19:54 And mentioned in the Book (the Quran) Isma'il. Verily! He was true to what he promised, and he was a Messenger, (and) a Prophet.
19:55 He used to urge his people to pray and give zakat. And his Lord was well pleased with him.
19:56 And mentioned in the Book (the Quran) Idris.Verily! He was a man of truth, (and) a Prophet.
19:57 And We elevated him to an honorable status
19:58 Those were ˹some of˺ the prophets who Allah has blessed from among the descendants of Adam, and of those We carried with Noah ˹in the Ark˺, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those We ˹rightly˺ guided and chose. Whenever the revelations of the Most Compassionate were recited to them, they fell down, prostrating and weeping.
19:59 But they were succeeded by generations who neglected prayer and followed their lusts and so will soon face the evil consequences.
PARADISE
19:60 As for those who repent, believe, and do good, it is they who will be admitted into Paradise, never being denied any reward.
19:61(They will enter) 'Adn (Eden) Paradise, which the Most Beneficent (Allah) has promised to His slaves in the unseen: Verily! His Promise must come to pass.
19:62 There they will never hear any idle talk—only ˹greetings of˺ peace. And there they will have their provisions morning and evening.
19:63 That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allah.
19:64 And we (angels) descend not except by the Command of your Lord (O Muhammad SAW). To Him belongs what is before us and what is behind us, and what is between those two, and your Lord is never forgetful,
19:65˹He is the˺ Lord of the heavens, and the earth, and everything in between. So worship Him ˹alone˺, and be steadfast in His worship. Do you know anyone equal to Him?
19:66 And man (the disbeliever) says: "When I am dead, shall I then be raised up alive?"
19:67 Does not man remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?
19:68 So by your Lord, surely, We shall gather them together, and (also) the Shayatin (devils) (with them), then We shall bring them round Hell on their knees.
19:69 Then shall We certainly drag out from every sect all those who were worst in obstinate rebellion against (Allah) Most Gracious.
19:70 And We truly know best who is most deserving of burning in it.
19:71 There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord; a Decree which must be accomplished.
19:72 Then We shall save those who use to fear Allah and were dutiful to Him. And We shall leave the Zalimun therein to their knees (in Hell).
19:73 And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, those who disbelieve say to those who believe : "Which of the two groups (i.e. believers and disbelievers) is better in status and superior in assembly?”
19:74 And how many generations (past nations) have We destroyed before them, who were better in wealth, goods and outward appearance?
19:75 Say (O Muhammad SAW) whoever is in error, the Most Beneficent (Allah) will extend (the rope) to him, until, when they see that which they were promised, either the torment or the Hour, they will come to know who is worst in position, and who is weaker in forces.
19:76 And Allah increases in guidance those who are ˹rightly˺ guided. And the everlasting good deeds are far better with your Lord in reward and in outcome.
19:77 Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayat and (yet) says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children if there is an afterlife.
19:78 Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken from the Most Merciful a promise?
19:79 Nay! We shall record what he says, and We shall increase his torment (in the Hell);
19:80 And We will inherit him [in] what he mentions, and he will come to Us alone.
19:81 And they have taken (for worship) aliha (gods) besides Allah, that they might give them honor, power and glory.
19:82 But no! Those ˹gods˺ will deny their worship and turn against them.
19:83 See you (Muhammad) not that We have sent the Shayatin (devils) against the disbelievers to push them to do evil.
19:84 So make no haste against them; We only count out to them a (limited) number (of the days of the life of this world and delay their term so that they may increase in evil and sins).
19:85 On the Day of Judgment, when the pious people will be brought into the presence of the Beneficent God as the guests of honor
19:86 And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst
19:87 None will have the right to intercede, except those who have taken a covenant from the Most Compassionate.
SHIRK
19:88 And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son."
19:89 You have certainly made an outrageous claim,
19:90 by which the heavens are about to burst, the earth to split apart, and the mountains to crumble to pieces
19:91 That they ascribe a son to the Beneficent Allah.
19:92 And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.
19:93 There is none in the heavens or the earth who will not return to the Most Compassionate in full submission.
19:94 Indeed, He fully knows them and has counted them precisely.
19:95 And each of them will return to Him on the Day of Judgment all alone.
19:96 As for those who believe and do good, the Most Compassionate will ˹certainly˺ bless them with ˹genuine˺ love.
19:97 Indeed, We have made this ˹Quran˺ easy in your own language ˹O Prophet˺ so with it you may give good news to the righteous and warn those who are contentious.
19:98 ˹Imagine˺ how many peoples We have destroyed before them! Do you ˹still˺ see any of them, or ˹even˺ hear from them the slightest sound?
