SURAH AN-NAML
The Ant
(Maccie, Surah # 27, Verses 93 )
27:1 Ta, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a clear Book
27:2 As guidance and good tidings for the believers
27:3Who establish prayer and give zakah, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith].
27:4 Indeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly.
27:5 Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers.
27:6 And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are receiving the Quran from the One, All-Wise, All-Knowing.
PROPHET MUSA
27:7 ˹Remember˺ when Moses said to his family, “I have spotted a fire. I will either bring you some directions from there, or a burning torch so you may warm yourselves.
27:8But when he came to it, he was called ˹by Allah˺, “Blessed is the one at the fire, and whoever is around it!1 Glory be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds.
27:9 "O Musa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
27:10 Now, throw down your staff!” But when he saw it slithering like a snake, he ran away without looking back. ˹Allah reassured him,˺ “O Moses! Do not be afraid! Messengers should have no fear in My presence.
27:11"Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
27:12 And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient."
27:13 But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic."
27:14And, although their hearts were convinced the signs were true, they still denied them wrongfully and arrogantly. See then what was the end of the corruptors!
PROPHET DAWUD & PROPHET SULAIMAN
27:15 And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah , who has favored us over many of His believing servants."
27:16 And Sulaiman inherited (the knowledge of) Dawud. He said: "O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and been given everything ˹we need˺. This is indeed a great privilege.”
27:17 And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows.
27:18 And when they came across a valley of ants, an ant warned, “O ants! Go quickly into your homes so Solomon and his armies do not crush you, unknowingly.”
27:19 So Sulaiman smiled, amused at her speech and said: "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves."
27:20 And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent?
27:21 I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization."
27:22 It was not long before the bird came and said, “I have found out something you do not know. I have just come to you from Sheba with sure news.
27:23 Indeed, I found a woman ruling over them,1 who has been given everything ˹she needs˺, and who has a magnificent throne.
27:24 I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah. For Shaitan has made their deeds appealing to them—hindering them from the ˹Right˺ Way and leaving them unguided.
27:25 [And] so they do not prostrate to Allah , who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare -
27:26 Allah - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne."
27:27[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.
27:28 "Go you with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then draw back from them, and see what (answer) they return."
27:29 She said: "O chiefs! Verily! Here is delivered to me a noble letter,
27:30 "Verily! It is from Sulaiman (Solomon), and verily! It (reads): In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful;
27:31 Do not be arrogant with me, but come to me, fully submitting ˹to Allah˺.’”
27:32 She said, “O chiefs! Advise me in this matter of mine, for I would never make any decision without you.”
27:33 They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."
27:34 She said, "When Kings enter a town they destroy it and disrespect its honorable people. That is what they will do, too.
27:35 But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."
27:36 So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.
27:37 Go back to your people and we shall soon come there with an army which they will not be able to face. We shall drive them from their town, humble, and disgraced."
27:38[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"
27:39 A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."
27:40 But the one who had knowledge of the Scripture said,1 “I can bring it to you in the blink of an eye.” So when Solomon saw it placed before him, he exclaimed, “This is by the grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful, it is only for their own good. But whoever is ungrateful, surely my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Most Generous.”
27:41 Then he said, "Make a few changes to her throne and let us see whether she will recognize it or not."
27:42 So when she arrived, it was said ˹to her˺, “Is your throne like this?” She replied, “It looks to be the same. We have ˹already˺ received knowledge ˹of Solomon’s prophethood˺1 before this ˹miracle˺,2 and have submitted ˹to Allah˺.”
27:43 And that which she was worshiping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."
27:44 It was said to her: "Enter As-Sarh" (a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace], but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she (tucked up her clothes) uncovering her legs, Sulaiman (Solomon) said: "Verily, it is Sarh [(a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace] paved smooth with slab of glass." She said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islam, together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)."
PROPHET SALIH
27:45 And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother salih, [saying], "Worship Allah ," and at once they were two parties(believers and disbelievers) conflicting
27:46 He urged ˹the disbelieving group˺, “O my people! Why do you ˹seek to˺ hasten the torment before the good (Allah's Mercy)? Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive mercy?"
27:47They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." Salih said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested."
27:48 And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land never doing what is right.
27:49They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' "
27:50 And ˹so˺ they made a plan, but We too made a plan, while they were unaware.
27:51 Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.
27:52 So their homes are there, ˹but completely˺ ruined because of their wrongdoing. Surely in this is a lesson for people of knowledge.
27:53 And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah.
PROPHET LUT
27:54 And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing?
27:55 Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly.
27:56 There was no other answer given by his people except that they said: "Drive out the family of Lout (Lot) from your city. Verily, these are men who want to be clean and pure!"
27:57 So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind.
27:58 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
O’PROPHET MUHAMMAD ASK THE DISBELIEVERS
27:59 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon the servants He has chosen.” ˹Ask the disbelievers,˺ “Which is better: Allah or whatever ˹gods˺ they associate ˹with Him˺?”
27:60 Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down rain for you from the sky, by which We cause delightful gardens to grow? You could never cause their trees to grow. Was it another god besides Allah?” Absolutely not! But they are a people who set up equals ˹to Allah.
27:61 Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who made the earth a place of settlement, caused rivers to flow through it, placed firm mountains upon it, and set a barrier between ˹fresh and salt˺ bodies of water? Was it another god besides Allah?” Absolutely not! But most of them do not know.
27:62 Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who responds to the distressed when they cry to Him, relieving ˹their˺ affliction, and ˹Who˺ makes you successors in the earth? Is it another god besides Allah? Yet you are hardly mindful!”
27:63 Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who guides you in the darkness of the land and sea, and sends the winds ushering in His mercy? Is it another god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah above what they associate ˹with Him˺
27:64 Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who originates the creation then resurrects it, and gives you provisions from the heavens and the earth? Is it another god besides Allah?” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Show ˹me˺ your proof, if what you say is true.”
27:65 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “None in the heavens and the earth has knowledge of the unseen except Allah. Nor do they know when they will be resurrected.
27:66 Nay, they have no knowledge of the Hereafter. Nay, they are in doubt about it. Nay, they are blind about it.
27:67 And those who disbelieve say, "When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out [of the graves]?
27:68"Indeed we were promised this, we and our forefathers before, Verily, these are nothing but tales of ancients."
27:69 Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals."
27:70 And grieve you not for them, nor be straitened (in distress) because of what they plot.
27:71 And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"
27:72 Say, "Perhaps it is close behind you - some of that for which you are impatient.
27:73"Verily, your Lord is full of Grace for mankind, yet most of them do not give thanks.
27:74 And surely your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they reveal.
27:75 For there is nothing hidden in the heavens or the earth without being ˹written˺ in a perfect Record.
27:76 Indeed, this Quran clarifies for the Children of Israel most of what they differ over.
27:77 And it is truly a guide and mercy for the believers.
27:78 Your Lord will certainly judge between them by His justice, for He is the Almighty, All-Knowing.
27:79 So(O Muhammad) put your trust in Allah, for you are surely upon the ˹Path of˺ clear truth.
27:80 You certainly cannot make the dead hear ˹the truth˺. Nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs and walk away.
27:81 Nor can you lead the blind out of their misguidance. You can make none hear ˹the truth˺ except those who believe in Our revelations, ˹fully˺ submitting ˹to Allah˺.
27:82 And when the Word (of torment) is fulfilled against them, We shall bring out from the earth a beast to them, which will speak to them because mankind believed not with certainty in Our Ayat.
27:83 And [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a company of those who deny Our signs, and they will be [driven] in rows
27:84 When they ˹finally˺ come before their Lord, He will ask ˹them˺, “Did you deny My revelations without ˹even˺ comprehending them? Or what ˹exactly˺ did you do?”
27:85 And the decree ˹of torment˺ will be justified against them for their wrongdoing, leaving them speechless
27:86 Do they not see that We made the night for them to rest in and the day bright? Surely in this are signs for those who believe.
27:87 And ˹beware of˺ the Day the Trumpet will be blown, and all those in the heavens and all those on the earth will be horrified ˹to the point of death˺, except those Allah wills ˹to spare˺. And all will come before Him, fully humbled.
MOUNTAINS ARE TRAVELING LIKE CLOUDS!
27:88 Now you see the mountains, thinking they are firmly fixed, but they are traveling ˹just˺ like clouds. ˹That is˺ the design of Allah, Who has perfected everything. Surely He is All-Aware of what you do.
27:89 Whoever comes with a good deed will be rewarded with what is better, and they will be secure from the horror on that Day.
27:90 And whoever comes with an evil deed will be hurled face-first into the Fire. Are you rewarded except for what you used to do?
27:91 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city ˹of Mecca˺, Who has made it sacred, and to Him belongs everything. And I am commanded to be one of those who ˹fully˺ submit ˹to Him˺,
27:92 And to recite the Qur'an."Then whoever chooses to be guided, it is only for their own good. But whoever chooses to stray, say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I am only a warner.”
27:93 And say [(O Muhammad): "All the praises and thanks be to Allah. He will show you His Ayat , and you shall recognise them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."
