38:30 And to David We gave Solomon —what an excellent servant! Indeed he was a penitent [soul].
27:15 And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah , who has favored us over many of His believing servants."
27:16 And Sulaiman inherited (the knowledge of) Dawud. He said: "O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and been given everything ˹we need˺. This is indeed a great privilege.”
27:17And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows.
27:18And when they came across a valley of ants, an ant warned, “O ants! Go quickly into your homes so Solomon and his armies do not crush you, unknowingly.”
27:19 So Sulaiman smiled, amused at her speech and said: "My Lord! Inspire and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Your Favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may do righteous good deeds that will please You, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves."
27:20 And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent?
27:21 I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization."
27:22It was not long before the bird came and said, “I have found out something you do not know. I have just come to you from Sheba with sure news.
27:23 Indeed, I found a woman ruling over them,1 who has been given everything ˹she needs˺, and who has a magnificent throne.
27:24 I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah. For Satan has made their deeds appealing to them—hindering them from the ˹Right˺ Way and leaving them unguided.
27:25 [And] so they do not prostrate to Allah , who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare -
27:26 Allah - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne."
27:27[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.
27:28 "Go you with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then draw back from them, and see what (answer) they return."
27:29 She said: "O chiefs! Verily! Here is delivered to me a noble letter,
27:30 "Verily! It is from Sulaiman (Solomon), and verily! It (reads): In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful;
27:31 Do not be arrogant with me, but come to me, fully submitting ˹to Allah˺.’”
27:32 She said, “O chiefs! Advise me in this matter of mine, for I would never make any decision without you.”
27:33 They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command."
27:34 She said, "When Kings enter a town they destroy it and disrespect its honorable people. That is what they will do, too.
27:35 But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."
27:36 So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.
27:37 Go back to your people and we shall soon come there with an army which they will not be able to face. We shall drive them from their town, humble, and disgraced."
27:38[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"
27:39 A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."
27:40 But the one who had knowledge of the Scripture said,1 “I can bring it to you in the blink of an eye.” So when Solomon saw it placed before him, he exclaimed, “This is by the grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful, it is only for their own good. But whoever is ungrateful, surely my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Most Generous.”
27:41 Then he said, "Make a few changes to her throne and let us see whether she will recognize it or not."
27:42 So when she arrived, it was said ˹to her˺, “Is your throne like this?” She replied, “It looks to be the same. We have ˹already˺ received knowledge ˹of Solomon’s prophethood˺1 before this ˹miracle˺,2 and have submitted ˹to Allah˺.”
27:43 And that which she was worshiping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people."
27:44 It was said to her: "Enter As-Sarh" (a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace], but when she saw it, she thought it was a pool, and she (tucked up her clothes) uncovering her legs, Sulaiman (Solomon) said: "Verily, it is Sarh [(a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace] paved smooth with slab of glass." She said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islam, together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)."
PROPHET DAWOOD
34:10 And indeed We bestowed grace on Dawood from Us (saying): "O you mountains. Glorify (Allah) with him! And you birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him."
34:11 Instructing: “Make full-length armour, ˹perfectly˺ balancing the links. And work righteousness. Indeed, I am All-Seeing of what you do.”
PROPHET SULAIMAN
34:12 And to Sulaiman [We subjected] the wind - its morning [journey was that of] a month - and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month, and We made flow for him a spring of [liquid] copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our command - We will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze.
34:13 They (Jinns) would make for him anything that he wanted like fortresses, statues, large basins like reservoirs, and huge immovable cooking pots. It was said, "Family of Dawood, worship and act gratefully. Only few of my servants are grateful."
34:14Then when We decreed death for him [Sulaiman], nothing informed them (jinns) of his death except the termites eating away his staff. So when he collapsed, the jinn realized that if they had ˹really˺ known the unseen, they would not have stayed in the humiliating torment.
38:17 Be patient ˹O Prophet˺ with what they say. And remember Our servant, Dawud, the man of strength. Indeed, he ˹constantly˺ turned ˹to Allah˺.
38:18 Indeed, We made the mountains [to praise] with him (Dawud) exalting [Allah] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise.
38:19 And the birds were assembled, all with him repeating [praises].
38:20 We made his kingdom strong and gave him Al-Hikmah (Prophethood, etc.) and sound judgment in speech and decision.
38:21 Have you heard the news of the disputing parties, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber -
38:22 When they entered in upon Dawud, he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not! (We are) two disputing parties, one of whom has wronged the other, therefore judge between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, and guide us to the Right Way.
38:23 This is my brother.1 He has ninety-nine sheep while I have ˹only˺ one. ˹Still˺ he asked me to give it up to him, and he overpowered me in speech."
38:24 Dawud ˹eventually˺ ruled, “He has definitely wronged you in demanding ˹to add˺ your sheep to his. And, verily, many partners oppress one another, except those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and they are few." Then Dawud realized that We had tested him so he asked for his Lord’s forgiveness, fell down in prostration, and turned ˹to Him in repentance˺.
38:25 So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.
38:26 ˹We instructed him:˺ “O Dawud! We have surely made you an authority in the land, so judge between people with truth. And do not follow ˹your˺ desires or they will lead you astray from Allah’s Way. Surely those who go astray from Allah’s Way will suffer a severe punishment for neglecting the Day of Reckoning.”
