SURAH IBRAHIM
Ibrahim
(Maccie, Surah # 14, Verses 52 )
14:1 Alif-Lãm-Ra. ˹This is˺ a Book which We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ so that you may lead people out of darkness and into light, by the Will of their Lord, to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy
14:2 Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And woe to the disbelievers because of a severe torment!
14:3 Those who prefer the life of this world instead of the Hereafter, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and try to make it seem crooked. It is they who have gone far astray.
14:4 We have not sent a messenger except in the language of his people to clarify ˹the message˺ for them. Then Allah leaves whoever He wills to stray and guides whoever He wills. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.
PROPHET MUSA
14:5 Indeed, We sent Moses with Our signs, ˹ordering him,˺ “Lead your people out of darkness and into light, and remind them of Allah’s days ˹of favor˺.” Surely in this are signs for whoever is steadfast, grateful.
14:6 And [recall, O Children of Israel], when Moses said to His people, "Remember the favor of Allah upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who were afflicting you with the worst torment and were slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.
14:7 And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' "
14:8 And Musa said: "If you disbelieve, you and all on earth together, then verily! Allah is Self-sufficient and Praiseworthy."
MESSENGERS
14:9 Has not the news reached you, of those before you, the people of Nuh, and 'Ad, and Thamud? And those after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came their Messengers with clear proof, but they put their hands in their mouths (biting them from anger) and said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and we are also doubtful and uncertain about that to which you invite us."
DAWAH
14:10 Their messengers asked ˹them˺, “Is there any doubt about Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays your death for a specified term." They argued, “You are no more than humans like us! You ˹only˺ wish to turn us away from what our forefathers worshiped. So bring us some compelling proof.”
14:11 Their messengers said to them, “We are ˹indeed˺ only humans like you, but Allah favors whoever He chooses of His servants. It is not for us to bring you any proof without Allah’s permission. And in Allah let the believers put their trust.
14:12 And why should we not rely upon Allah while He has guided us to our [good] ways. And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And in Allah let the faithful put their trust.”
14:13 The disbelievers then threatened their messengers, “We will certainly expel you from our land, unless you return to our faith.” So their Lord revealed to them, “We will surely destroy the wrongdoers,
14:14"And indeed, We shall make you dwell in the land after them. This is for him who fears standing before Me and also fears My Threat."
14:15 And both sides called for judgment, so every stubborn tyrant was doomed.
14:16 In front of him is Hell, and he is given to drink of oozing pus
14:17 He will gulp it but will hardly [be able to] swallow it. And death will come to him from everywhere, yet they will not ˹be able to˺ die. And before him is a massive punishment.
14:18 The example of those who disbelieve in their Lord is [that] their deeds are like ashes which the wind blows forcefully on a stormy day; they are unable [to keep] from what they earned a [single] thing. That is ˹truly˺ the farthest one can stray.
14:19 Have you not seen that Allah created the heavens and the earth for a reason? If He wills, He can eliminate you and produce a new creation.
14:20 And that is not difficult for Allah ˹at all˺.
DISBELIEVER ARROGANT TESTIFY
14:21 And they all shall appear before Allah (on the Day of Resurrection) then the weak will say to those who were arrogant (chiefs): "Verily, we were following you; so will you ˹then˺ protect us from Allah’s torment in any way?” They will reply, “Had Allah guided us, we would have guided you. ˹Now˺ it is all the same for us whether we suffer patiently or impatiently, there is no escape for us.”
SHAITAN TESTIFY
14:22 And Shaitan will say ˹to his followers˺ after the judgment has been passed, “Indeed, Allah has made you a true promise. I too made you a promise, but I failed you. I did not have any authority over you. I only called you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; blame yourselves. I cannot save you, nor can you save me. I deny your former act in associating me (Shaitan) as a partner with Allah Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimun.
14:23 Those who believe and do good will be admitted into Gardens, under which rivers flow—to stay there forever by the Will of their Lord—where they will be greeted with “Peace!”
EXAMPLE OF GOOD WORDS
14:24 Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky?
14:25 It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded.
EXAMPLE OF BAD WORDS
14:26 And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability.
14:27 Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allah does what He wills.
14:28 Have you not seen those ˹disbelievers˺ who meet Allah’s favors with ingratitude and lead their own people to their doom?
14:29 Hell, in which they will burn, - and what an evil place to settle in!
14:30 They set up equals to Allah to mislead ˹others˺ from His Way. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Enjoy yourselves! Surely your destination is the Fire.”
14:31 Tell My believing servants to establish prayer and donate from what We have provided for them—openly and secretly—before the arrival of a Day in which there will be no bargaining nor befriending.
14:32 It is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth and sends down rain from the sky, causing fruits to grow as a provision for you. He has made the ships for your service, sailing through the sea by His command, and has made the rivers for you.
14:33 And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day, to be of service to you.
14:34 And He has granted you all that you asked Him for. If you tried to count Allah’s blessings, you would never be able to number them. Indeed humankind is truly unfair, ˹totally˺ ungrateful.
PROPHET IBRAHIM
14:35 And (remember) when Ibrahim said: "O my Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshiping idols.
14:36 My Lord! They have caused many people to go astray. So whoever follows me is with me, and whoever disobeys me—then surely You are ˹still˺ All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
14:37 Our Lord! I have settled some of my offspring in a barren valley, near Your Sacred House, our Lord, so that they may establish prayer. So make the hearts of ˹believing˺ people incline towards them and provide them with fruits, so perhaps they will be thankful.
Our Lord! You certainly know what we conceal and what we reveal. Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allah.
14:39 All praise is for Allah who has blessed me with Ishmael and Isaac in my old age. My Lord is indeed the Hearer of ˹all˺ prayers.
14:40 رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْنِى مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِ
"O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salat, and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my prayers.
14:41 رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْحِسَابُ
Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day when the judgment will come to pass.”
14:42 Do not think ˹O Prophet˺ that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them until a Day when ˹their˺ eyes will stare in horror.
14:43 Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their gaze does not come back to them, and their hearts are empty.(from thinking because of extreme fear).
TOO LATE
14:44 And warn the people O’Muhammad of the Day when the punishment will overtake ˹the wicked among˺ them, and the wrongdoers will cry, “Our Lord! Delay us for a little while. We will respond to Your call and follow the messengers!” ˹It will be said,˺ “Did you not swear before that there would be no end for you?
14:45 And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples."
14:46 And they had planned their plan, but with Allah is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains.
14:47 So do not think ˹O Prophet˺ that Allah will fail to keep His promise to His messengers. Allah is indeed Almighty, capable of punishment.
14:48 On the Day when the earth will be changed to another earth and so will be the heavens, and they (all creatures) will appear before Allah, the One, the Irresistible.
14:49 On that Day you will see the wicked bound together in chains,
14:50 Their garments will be of tar, and fire will cover their faces.
14:51 As such, Allah will reward every soul for what it has committed. Surely Allah is swift in reckoning.
14:52 This ˹Quran˺ is a ˹sufficient˺ message for humanity so that they may take it as a warning and know that there is only One God, and so that people of understanding may be mindful.
