SURAH AT-TAHRIM
The Prohibition
(Madnie, Surah # 66, Verses 12 )
PROPHET MUHAMMAD’S WIFE (HAFSAH)
66:1 O Prophet! Why do you prohibit (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
66:2 Allah has already ordained for you [Muslims] the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your protector, and He is the Knowing, the Wise.
66:3 And (remember) when the Prophet (Muhammad) disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives (Hafsah), so when she told it (to another i.e. 'Aishah), and Allah made it known to him, he informed part thereof and left a part. Then when he told her (Hafsah) thereof, she said: "Who told you this?" He said: "The All-Knower, the All-Aware (Allah) has told me".
66:4 Would that you two (wives of the Prophet) had turned to Allah in repentance. Your hearts have sinned. If you conspire with each other against him(Muhammad), know that Allah is his Guardian. Gabriel, the righteous (ones) among the believers and the angels will all support him.
HE MAY GIVE YOU BETTER WIFE
66:5 It may be if he divorced you (all) that his Lord will give him instead of you, wives better than you, Muslims (who submit to Allah), believers, obedient to Allah, turning to Allah in repentance, worshiping Allah sincerely, fasting or emigrants (for Allah's sake), previously married and virgins.
PROTECT YOURSELVES AND YOUR FAMILIES FROM THE HELLFIRE
66:6 O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.
66:7 Disbelievers (will be told on the Day of Judgment), "Do not make any excuses on this day; you are only receiving recompense for what you have done".
BELIEVERS WILL HAVE LIGHT TO CROSS SIRAT
66:8 O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remove from you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) the Day that Allah will not disgrace the Prophet (Muhammad SAW) and those who believe with him, their Light will run forward before them and with (their Records Books of deeds) in their right hands they will say:
رَبَّنَآ أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَآ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ
"Our Lord! Keep perfect our Light for us [and do not put it off till we cross over the Sirat safely] and grant us forgiveness. Verily, You are Able to do all things ."
66:9 O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! fight hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their home will be Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.
DISBELIEVING WIVES OF PROPHET NUH AND LUT
66:10 Allah sets forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Nuh and the wife of Lout. They were under two of our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands )so they [Nuh and Lout] benefited them not, against Allah, and it was said: "Enter the Fire along with those who enter!"
BELIEVING WIFE OF FIR’AUN
66:11 And Allah has set forth an example for those who believe, the wife of Fir'aun, when she said: "My Lord! Build for me a home with You in Paradise, and save me from Fir'aun and his work, and save me from the people who are Zalimun.
MARYAM(BE! AND IT WAS)
66:12 And Maryam, the daughter of 'Imran who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (the sleeve of her shirt or her garment) through Our Ruh [i.e. Gabriel)], and she testified to the truth of the Words of her Lord [i.e. believed in the Words of Allah: "Be!" and he was; that is 'Isa, son of Maryam; as a Messenger of Allah], and (also believed in) His Scriptures, and she was of the Qanitin (i.e. obedient to Allah).
