SURAH AL- HUJURAT
The Chambers
(Madnie, Surah # 49, Verses 18 )
ETIQUETTES WHEN AMONG PROPHET MUHAMMAD(PBUH)
49:1 O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allah and His Messenger (SAW), and fear Allah. Verily! Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
49:2 O you who believe! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak loudly to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, or your deeds will become void while you are unaware.
49:3 Indeed, those who lower their voices in the presence of Allah’s Messenger are the ones whose hearts Allah has refined for righteousness. They will have forgiveness and a great reward.
49:4 Most of those who call you from behind the private chambers do not have any understanding.
49:5 And if they had patience till you could come out to them, it would have been better for them. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
VERIFY NEWS BEFORE SPREADING
49:6 O you who believe! If a rebellious evil person comes to you with a news, verify it, so you do not harm people unknowingly, becoming regretful for what you have done.
FOR BELIEVERS FAITH IS BELOVED & DISBELIEF IS HATEFUL
49:7 And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but Allah has beloved to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief, wickedness and disobedience. These! They are the rightly guided ones.
49:8 (This is) a Grace from Allah and His Favor. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
MAKE PEACE BETWEEN BELIEVING GROUPS
49:9 And if two groups of believers fight each other, then make peace between them. But if one of them transgresses against the other, then fight against the transgressing group until they return to the ordinance of Allah. And if they return, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
MUSLIM ARE BROTHERS TO EACH OTHER
49:10 The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.
MOCKING-INSULTING- NAME CALLING
49:11 Believers, let not a group of you mock another. Perhaps they are better than you. Let not women mock each other; perhaps one is better than the other. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. How bad is it, to insult one's brother after having Faith. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Zalimun (wrong-doers)
AVOID SUSPICION- SPYING OR BACKBITING
49:12 O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting) . And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.
49:13 O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware.
ENTER ISLAM WHOLEHEARTEDLY
49:14 The bedouins say: "We believe." Say: "You believe not but you only say, 'We have surrendered (in Islam),' for Faith has not yet entered your hearts. But if you obey Allah and His Messenger (SAW), He will not decrease anything in reward for your deeds. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
TRUE BELIEVERS
49:15 The ˹true˺ believers are only those who believe in Allah and His Messenger—never doubting—and strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah. They are the ones true in faith.
49:16 Say, “Do you inform Allah of your faith, when Allah ˹already˺ knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth? And Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.”
ALLAH’S FAVOR UPON YOU
49:17 They regard their acceptance of Islam as a favor to you. Tell ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Do not regard your Islam as a favor to me. Rather, it is Allah Who has done you a favor by guiding you to the faith, if ˹indeed˺ you are faithful.
49:18 Verily, Allah knows the unseen of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is the All-Seer of what you do.
