SURAH JUMMAH

Friday

(Madnie, Surah # 62, Verses 11 )

GLORIFY ALLAH

62:1 Whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth glorifies Allah, the King, the Holy, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

MESSENGER AMONG THEM

62:2 He is the One Who raised for the illiterate ˹people˺ a messenger from among themselves—reciting to them His revelations, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, for indeed they had previously been clearly astray—

62:3 Along with others of them who have not yet joined them ˹in faith˺. For He is the Almighty, All-Wise.

62:4 This is the favor of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.

JEWS SAYS WE ARE ALLAH’S CHOSEN PEOPLE

62:5 The example of those who were entrusted with ˹observing˺ the Torah but failed to do so, is that of a donkey carrying books. How evil is the example of those who reject Allah’s signs! For Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

62:6 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O Jews! If you claim to be Allah’s chosen ˹people˺ out of all humanity, then wish for death, if what you say is true.”

62:7 But they will never wish for that because of what their hands have done. And Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of the wrongdoers.

62:8 (Muhammad), tell them, "The death from which you run away will certainly approach you. Then you will be returned to the One who knows the unseen and the seen, and He will tell you what you have done".

LEAVE TRADE DURING SALATUL-JUMMAH

62:9 O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.

62:10 Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salat is finished, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working, etc.), and remember Allah much, that you may be successful.

62:11 But when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muhammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allah is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allah is the best of providers."
