SURAH AN-NAJM

The Stars

(Maccie, Surah # 53, Verses 62 )

53:1 By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes).

REVELATION SENT DOWN THROUGH JIBREEL

53:2 Your companion (Muhammad) has neither gone astray nor has erred.

53:3 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire.

53:4 It is only a revelation sent down to him

53:5 He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibreel]

53:6 And great perfection, who once rose to ˹his˺ true (original) form

53:7 While he [Jibreel] was in the highest part of the horizon,

53:8 Then he [Jibreel] approached and came down

53:9 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer,

53:10 Then Allah revealed to His servant (Muhammad) what He revealed ˹through Jibreel˺

53:11 The (Prophet’s) heart did not lie [about] what it saw.

53:12 How can you ˹O pagans˺ then dispute with him regarding what he saw?

SIDRAT-UL-MUNTAHA

53:13 And indeed he (Muhammad) saw him [Jibreel] at a second descent (another time).

53:14 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha- at the Lote Tree of the most extreme limit ˹in the seventh heaven

53:15 Near it is the Paradise of Abode (residence)

53:16 When that which covers covered the lote-tree;

53:17 The sight (Muhammad) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it).

53:18 Indeed he (Muhammad) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah).

IDOLS( LAT-UZZA-MANAT)

53:19 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs)

53:20 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third?

53:21 Is it for you the males and for Him the females?

53:22 That indeed is a division most unfair!

53:23 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow nothing but ˹inherited˺ assumptions and whatever ˹their˺ souls desire,  although ˹true˺ Guidance has already come to them from their Lord.

53:24 Can a human being have whatever he wishes?

53:25 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world).

53:26 ˹Imagine˺ how many ˹noble˺ angels are in the heavens! ˹Even˺ their intercession would be of no benefit whatsoever, until Allah gives permission to whoever He wills and ˹only for the people He˺ approves.

53:27 Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.

53:28 although they have no knowledge ˹in support˺ of this. They follow nothing but ˹inherited˺ assumptions. And surely assumptions can in no way replace the truth.

53:29 So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life.

53:30 This is the extent of their knowledge. Surely your Lord knows best who has strayed from His Way and who is ˹rightly˺ guided.

53:31 To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth so that He may reward the evildoers according to what they did, and reward the good-doers with the finest reward

53:32 Those who avoid great sins and Al-Fawahish (immoralities) except minor sins, verily, your Lord is of vast forgiveness. He knows you well when He created you from the earth (Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers' wombs. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him..

O’ PROPHET ASK WHO TURNED AWAY FROM ISLAM

53:33 Did you (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away (from Islam).

53:34 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)?

53:35 Does he have the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees ˹the Hereafter˺?

53:36 Or is he not informed with what is in the Scripture of Musa,

53:37 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] -

53:38 They state˺ that no soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another,

53:39 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad) ,

53:40 And that his effort is going to be seen -

53:41 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds.

53:42 To your Lord will all things eventually return.

ALLAH

53:43 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep

53:44 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life;

53:45 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female,

53:46 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted

53:47 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection);

53:48 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment),

53:49 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship);

53:50 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people),

53:51 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them.

53:52 And before ˹that He destroyed˺ the people of Noah, who were truly far worse in wrongdoing and transgression.

53:53 And ˹it was˺ He ˹Who˺ turned the cities ˹of Sodom˺ upside down.

53:54 So they covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones).

53:55 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?

53:56 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners.

53:57 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer.

53:58 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it).

53:59 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)?

53:60 and do they laugh instead of weeping,

53:61 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.).

53:62 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone).
