SURAH AL- QAMAR

The Moon

(Maccie, Surah # 54, Verses 55 )

54:1 The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].

54:2 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."

54:3 They rejected ˹the truth˺ and followed their own desires—and every matter will be settled

WARNINGS TO ALL NATIONS

54:4 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),

54:5 This Quran is˺ profound ˹in˺ wisdom, but warnings are of no benefit ˹to them˺.

54:6 So turn away from them ˹O Prophet˺. ˹And wait for˺ the Day ˹when˺ the caller(Israfil)  will called ˹them˺ for something terrible.

54:7 With eyes downcast, they will come forth from the graves as if they were scattered grasshoppers.

54:8 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."

PROPHET NUH

54:9 The people of Nuh denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our servant, and said: "A madman!"and he was driven out.

54:10 So he cried out to his Lord, “I am helpless, so help ˹me˺!”

54:11 So We opened the gates of the sky with pouring rain,

54:12 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.

54:13 We carried him on that ˹Ark made˺ of planks and nails,

54:14 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected!

54:15 We certainly left this as a sign. So is there anyone who will be mindful?

54:16 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My warnings?

54:17 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention?

PROPHET HUD

54:18’Ȃd ˹also˺ rejected ˹the truth˺. Then how ˹dreadful˺ were My punishment and warnings!

54:19 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

54:20 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms.

54:21 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My warnings?

54:22 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention?

PROPHET SALIH

54:23 Thamûd rejected the warnings ˹as well˺,

54:24 arguing, “How can we follow one ˹average˺ human being from among us? We would then truly be misguided and insane.

54:25 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar."

54:26 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.

54:27 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.

54:28 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn].

54:29 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).

54:30 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My warnings?

54:31 Indeed, We sent against them ˹only˺ one ˹mighty˺ blast, leaving them like the twigs of fence-builders.

54:32 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention?

PROPHET LUT

54:33 The people of Lot ˹also˺ rejected the warnings.

54:34 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn

54:35 as a blessing from Us. This is how We reward whoever gives thanks.

54:36 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they doubt the warnings!

54:37 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."

54:38 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment.

54:39 Then, how (terrible) was my Torment and my warnings?

54:40 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention?

PEOPLE OF PHARAOH

54:41 And indeed, the WARNINGS ˹also˺ came to the people of Pharaoh.

54:42 ˹But˺ they rejected all of Our signs, so We seized them with the ˹crushing˺ grip of the Almighty, Most Powerful.

MACCANS DENIED AND THEY WILL FACE THE TORMENT

54:43 Now, are you ˹Meccan˺ disbelievers superior to those ˹destroyed peoples˺? Or have you ˹been granted˺ immunity ˹from punishment˺ in divine Books?

54:44 Or do they say: "We are a great multitude, and we shall be victorious.?"

54:45 Their multitude will be defeated, and they will show their backs.

54:46 Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.

54:47 The sinful ones will face the destructive torment of hell

54:48 On the Day they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, ˹they will be told,˺ “Taste the touch of Hell!”

54:49 Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (predestination)

54:50 Our command is but a single word, done in the blink of an eye.

54:51 And We have already destroyed your kinds, so is there any who will remember?

54:52 And each and everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).

54:53 Every matter, small and large, is written ˹precisely˺.

54:54 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

54:55 At the Seat of Honor in the presence of the Most Powerful Sovereign.
